Cookies policy
1. What are cookies and why do we use them?
Cookies are small text files that websites store on the user’s device when they visit them. They allow the site to remember information about the visit, which can make browsing easier and the site more useful.
The Europavia Website uses first-party and third-party cookies for different purposes. In accordance with the GDPR and the AEPD Guide on the use of cookies (2023), we only install cookies that are not strictly necessary when the user has given prior, freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous consent.
When the user accesses the website, a cookie banner is displayed allowing them to accept, reject or configure the use of non-essential cookies. Consent can be changed or withdrawn at any time through the cookie settings panel.
2. Types of cookies used
2.1 By ownership
- First-party cookies: Generated and managed directly by Europavia.
- Third-party cookies: Generated by external entities that provide services to the Website.
2.2 By purpose
- Technical or strictly necessary cookies (exempt from consent): Essential for the website to function. Without them, the site cannot operate properly. They do not require user consent.
- Preference or personalisation cookies: Allow the user’s preferences to be remembered (language, region, display settings). They require consent.
- Analytics or measurement cookies: Allow the number of users to be quantified and browsing behaviour to be analysed for statistical purposes and to improve the service. They require consent. IP addresses are anonymised before any processing.
- Marketing or advertising cookies: Allow advertising relevant to the user’s profile to be displayed and campaign effectiveness to be measured. They require explicit consent.
3. Cookie consent
The EUROPAVIA website, https://europavia.com (hereinafter the Website), uses Cookies. The primary purpose of Cookies is to give users faster access to the services they select. In addition, Cookies personalise the services offered by the Website, providing each user with information that is or may be of interest to them, based on their use of the Services.
Users can manage their cookie preferences at any time through the cookie settings centre available on the website, where they can enable or disable cookie categories.
3.1 Types, purpose and operation of Cookies
Depending on how long they last, Cookies can be divided into “session Cookies” and “persistent Cookies”. The former expire when the user closes the browser. The latter expire once the purpose they serve has been fulfilled (for example, keeping the user logged in to the Services) or when they are deleted manually.
In addition, depending on their purpose, Cookies can be classified as follows:
- Performance cookies: This type of Cookie remembers your preferences for the tools found in the services, so you do not have to reconfigure the service each time you visit. Examples in this category include:
- Volume settings for video or audio players.
- Video streaming speeds compatible with your browser.
- Geolocation cookies: These Cookies are used to find out which country you are in when you request a service. This Cookie is completely anonymous and is only used to help tailor content to your location.
- Registration cookies: Registration Cookies are generated once the user has registered or subsequently logged in, and are used to identify them on the services for the following purposes:
- To keep the user identified so that, if they close a service, the browser or the computer and return to that service at another time or on another day, they will still be identified, making browsing easier without having to log in again. This functionality can be removed if the user clicks “log out”, in which case this Cookie is deleted and the next time the user accesses the service they will need to log in to be identified.
- To check whether the user is authorised to access certain services, for example, to take part in a competition.
- Analytics cookies: Each time a User visits a service, a tool from an external provider (Google Analytics, Comscore and similar tools, which may be added to this list if they change from the current ones) generates an analytics Cookie on the user’s computer. This Cookie, which is only generated during the visit, will be used on future visits to the Website’s Services to identify the visitor anonymously. The main objectives are:
- To enable anonymous identification of browsing users through the “Cookie” (it identifies browsers and devices, not people) and therefore an approximate count of the number of visitors and their trend over time.
- To anonymously identify the most visited and therefore most attractive content for users.
- To find out whether the user accessing the site is new or a returning visitor.
Important: Unless the user chooses to register for a service on the Website, the “Cookie” will never be associated with any personal data that could identify them. These Cookies will only be used for statistical purposes that help optimise the Users’ experience on the site.
